Some of you know me, but for those who don’t allow me to introduce myself. My name is Matt and I’ve been dancing at Indigo Blues and it predessor Muddy Water Blues for almost 5 years. In that time I have thoroughly enjoyed the scene. So I’ve given back in a few ways. I took our pictures last summer and have been creating events so everyone knows who’s DJing and teaching on Fridays. In the same spirit, I’ve decided to do a little project. I have created a survey that I would like as many people that have participated in our dance scene to complete. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been dancing at the Grange once or since the beginning, I would like your input. You’ll find a link to a survey at the bottom of this message, please take the time to fill it out. It shouldn’t take very long and you’ll help me get a better grasp on everybody’s feelings about the scene.
If you know of anybody who has danced Friday nights at the Grange and they haven’t received the survey send them the link too.

For this week we have Heather giving us a fantastic lesson that everyone will want to come to.
For the first half of the night the wonderful Teresa Storch will be playing some music for us. You might remember her from the last two awesome live music sets she’s had for us. Just saying, you probably won’t be disappointed by that. The second half of the night will be DJ’d by Junior Martin.
Oh Mama and Papa are the best and there is little else that is better than their lessons. Except, perhaps their set lists. That’s right, in case you hadn’t heard already Mama and Papa will be teaching the lesson this Friday and the Djing the first set of the night.
Then Brittney will be taking over for the second half with a Soul Jam. In fact, perhaps there will be a train of some kind. You’ll just have to come and find out for yourself.
I hope all of you had fun last weekend at the Intercollegiate Swing Battle, as there was no Grange last week because of that event. This weekend, however, we have the wonderful Zarine of the Jivecats who will teaching our lesson at 8:30pm.
Our DJ’s of the night will be the Darlington for the first half and Nick for the second half. So be prepared to have an awesome night of dancing!
Sorry for the later than usual posting folks. But we have a unique opportunity for you this week. The lesson will be split into two halves and the first half isn’t really a lesson. We will have a DJ discussion and music swap. So if you’ve ever DJ’d, are interested in DJing or just want to find out what that one song was, come for that. Bring whatever technological gadgetry you need for this. Then the second half will be a beginner lesson for anyone interested taught by Heather. But before you decide not to come because, “It’s just another beginner lesson.” You should know there will be a good emphasis on musicality as well.
Our DJs this week will be Ruth for the first half and myself (Matt) for the second half. So you’ll have plenty of music you’ll want to dance to this week. See you all there.
I am excited for this week’s lesson. Why? Because it’s Mama and Papa. They are my favorite dancing couple and their lessons are always fun and educational. So try and make that.
Also, because Mama and Papa are so awesome, they will be our first DJ set of the night. They always play the really good stuff and I can’t wait to hear what they have for us this week. Then, Adin of Swing and Blues at Old Town Yoga will follow that up by DJing the second half of the night and he won’t disappoint either.
This weekend is when most of us will be at Mile High Blues in Denver. Which is a great event and you really should try to make it at least one of the nights this week. However, if you find yourself in Fort Collins on Friday, then find your way to the Grange. We will be having a dance this week for those of us who can’t make it to Mile High Blues.
Heather will be our instructor. Our first DJ will be Eric, followed by Chris.
